The Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland is one of the world’s most prestigious golfing destinations. Its historic charm attracts golfers from across the globe, but the previous clubhouse while serving admirably for more than 100 years was increasingly constrained by modern expectations and so the decision was taken to proceed with a complete rebuild.
At a cost of nearly £14 million, the stunning new development situated on the first tee of the championship course blends modern design with the club’s longstanding legacy, reinforcing Royal Dornoch’s reputation as a global leader in the sport. The integration of renewable technologies underscores the club’s commitment to sustainability and ensures it can meet the expectations of a global audience for decades to come.
Ri Cruden Ltd were appointed to deliver the full mechanical and electrical (M&E) package, which included Clearline fusion roof integrated solar panels, chosen for their quality and aesthetic appeal. 136 panels were installed, a total of 45.56kWp alongside a 40kWh battery system to maximize energy efficiency and resilience. The building’s heating was provided by HelioTherm Ground Source Heat Pumps, ensuring sustainable and efficient temperature control.
Callum Cruden, Director at Ri Cruden Ltd said:
“Completing the Royal Dornoch Clubhouse project in 2025 was a real highlight for us; we were appointed to deliver a robust, efficient mechanical and electrical solution that aligned with the club’s sustainability goals whilst also looking aesthetically pleasing and the Clearline fusion roof integrated solar panels were the perfect choice.”
